 Artist Statement
My first painting that I remember creating was when I was twelve years old, it was a painting for my father that I gave to him on his birthday. When I have a brush in my hand, my thoughts and feelings explode onto the canvas in colors and images. For me, there is nothing like sitting in front of a blank canvas with so many ideas to paint. Visions that come to me are so clear and precise that my heart beats faster just thinking of a new creation that will soon come to life. It is difficult for me to express to you in words how I feel. The best way I can tell you is that with every dip of my brush into paint, I'm giving you a glimpse of what I see.
I specialize in impressionist and surreal paintings. In this style, I have the freedom to express my own visions freely. When you look at one of my paintings, I want it to be an experience where you can explore and enjoy it with your own thoughts and emotions. Presently I am focused on my Chronicles Of A Journey Series, a modern allegory that takes the viewer on an emotional adventure with a girl and her pet.

Biography
Shawna Erback born 1973, grew up in the beautiful valley in Trail, BC. Canada. She moved to Calgary where she lived for almost fifteen years. Her artistic talents were prominent at a young age but with a young family and owner of a successful cosmetic company she was not able to pursue art until she was in her late twenties. Since then Shawna has immersed herself in the artistic community. She participates in exhibitions; her recent being ArtExpo New York 2008. Shawna is also an active member of various art organizations and charities.
She and her family moved back to the valley of her youth where she could focus on her new career with a renewed and refreshed outlook on her life. Shawna is a self taught artist and paints full time. "Art is in my blood, several of my great aunts are also wonderful painters, it's not just a talent or something I do, it's who I am". Her works have been purchased for private and corporate collections all over the world and she has sold over 400 paintings to date.
